Semester 2 Finale
Well here´s what I got. I´m if and after it fires it turns out good. I really hope the butterfly comes out well, I used like a little wooden one I found to make the imprint. My cup looks a little rough, it´s a bit uneven. I had trouble making a good pinch-pot and was running out of time. I originally wanted to make 2 cups and plates but ran out of time.
Food Project
Well here it is finished. Not the best looking thing I´ve made, but it works. I tried using underglaze on the little sauce bowl, as well as making a little pattern on the top to try and make it look like an empty piece of sushi. I don´t think it turned out well. Well it turned out better than the first, since the first one blew up. I managed to actually use the uneven and hard to hold ceramic chopsticks I made.
Under the Sea
Well it turned out alright, I guess. The poor octopus's arm broke off and then broke again even after it was glaze-glued and I'm not sure the glue holding the arm on now will last. I made the submarine with two pinch-pots, it was the easiest thing to make. The octopus I forgot to hollow out before adding the arms so I just carved out the middle and made it a little hat to cover up the hole. I used underglaze on both pieces, it turned out well though in a few spots on the submarine the blue was a bit thin so I could have added another layer.
Tea for Two
Here´s the teacups so far, I tried making two small Japanese style cups. I made them by making two pinch-pots and I just used a slab to make the plates. I was going to make them like I did in the sketch, but after carving I decided to make it creepy. The top and bottom looked a bit like teeth after I carved them so I added eyes. I had to remake one of my plates, it just broke when I went to pick it up. I used red and black underglaze and I really like the way it turned out. I wasn´t expecting the colors to turn out so vibrant.
Semester 1 Finale
Here's my creepy face mask. It's pretty creepy. Should have added a bit more glaze to some areas but I liked how it turned out. Had to hot glue the beads on it, twice. Since they fell off the first time. It´s a little messy and a bit crooked, but it still looks good. Tried using the slab roller to roll the clay out for it and it was terrible, but I managed to figure it out.
Slab Project
Here´s my slab project. Didn´t turn out quite like I wanted it but I still like it. Was a fun project, kinda hated the slab roller.
Dirt Clay
Here´s the little creepy dirt clay faces I made. It was fun making clay though the sound of the mallets got a bit annoying.
Coil Pot Progress and Finale
Well it´s a mess. It took forever just for it to reach the required height. The bottom and a few leaves broke off in the kiln. It turned out alright I guess, Some of the glaze didn´t get on a few areas. It kind of just looks like a big mess.
Pinch Pot Progress and Final
Here´s the current progress on my pinch pots and the idea sketches. Out of all the ideas I went with the ice cream one. The bowl took 4 days to make since the clay kept cracking. Well the colors turned out a bit darker than I expected But I think it looks good still.
